gold standard and i hope you settle for silver it is a good hedge against inflation and pays dividend and the books are solid. >> and they do like some. >> quick question for morgan on seams to, book to sales ratio is high. do you think it is overpriced. >> i don't think so. i think it has room to run next year. >> does that satisfy you? >> if it is for free put it here. >> three for three. good work, gain. have a wonderful, wonderful merry christmas everybody. that's it for forbes on fox and thank you so much for watching and have a good weekend as well the number one business block continuous with cheryl casone and cashin in. >> and mcgrinch that stole christmas. they are pushing franchisees
8:31 am
to open up on christmas day. are they giving gifts to workers and cash in. we have wayne rogers and johnathon and tracey burns and john layfield and joining us is malia mazoo. i know you like mcdonalds. >> you think they are being a scrooge or is it a gift to the workers. >> trade is productive. it doesn't matter on christmas or roshshana and mcdonalds is a service business like dennis and starbucks. they have to be open when people want to get serve that includes christmas day. it is it important to keep in mind to incent vise. they might offer time and hamful and not only ask them
8:32 am
to but require it >>alt the same time mcdonalds was founded on principle to give them time off with their families. are they changing that . >> it is it a workers preogative to work anywhere else. there are not that many jobs in the economy. if you have a job be thankful. >> congress may be taking the time off. but mcdonalds had earnings that are down . staying up on christmas to me is something they should do. >> numbers are there. malia . a lolt of mcdonalds that opened on thanksgiving day booked profits and that was a lot of revenue for the mcdonald's franchise. does that mean they should
8:33 am
bring in the revenue and for the company? >> it is better for the company, but i agree that time and half, giting an extra shift as much as we would like everyone to enjoy the holiday season, i think that a lot of the workers they know are excited to get the extra hours and don't really mind giving up a holiday . also hopefully we'll see it short term where moving away from being a traditional christmas type of holiday . people who don't celebrate would like to work as well >> we have had discussion about the black friday and walmart workers were protesting that. do you think it is fair to the workers who want the holiday off are asked to come n it is family time. >> i don't think it is it a quep of fair or unfair. if they are worried about it legality the workers
8:34 am
themselves decide. we are not a totalitarian government. if you don't work you are fired. that's crazy . let the workers decide. they are giving up their christmas and family that dape. it is it a traditional day and sometimes it is better that they don't work on the day and better for them without them knowing it. that day is set aside for a family and for a special occasion and we should observe it >> butalt the same time, tracey. a lot of restaurants do this. starbucks and dens and jack in the box and mcdonalds is getting in line. >> it is capitalism at its best and i don't think people is this come down on the workers either. the notion of getting away from the christian. maybe we should everything on christmas . people should be at home. but we can't be flippant. if you do i want like it go
8:35 am
get another job. it is it not that easy . they will be worried if they don't come in christmas day, they may lose their job it is it unfair to a lot of people. i understand capitalism but i think you ought to have emotion as well >> fair to ask them to come in for three. >> it is not three. >> it is not an all or none. >> we don't know what they decided. they could be 10 or eight hour shifts. it is unfair to be flippant if you don't like it go get another job. >> same time malia with unemployment still high, many workers would be grateful for the hours. we don't know every franchise is going to be fully staffed. we don't know how management
8:36 am
would like to ask them. it is important for the franchise to be respectful. it is not all either or or. i hope they will be respectful for the workers and a lot of workers that don't mind workog christmas and get the time and half. this is not a to totalitarian society. in the end of the society. hopefully managers will have to volunteer on christmas and people who can work a double if they want. for thanksgiving extra 6,000 franchises that opened on thanksgiving and they made money. >> when i was in high school, i worked on starbucks on christmas and i enjoyed making a couple of . on folks and friends i came in at 5:00. that's what a job is. >> for catholic christians out there, this is the holiest possible day of the year .
8:37 am
if i want to be religious. i think that is what society is missing. >> you don't think the . ears would be some what. >> what do i do if the manager said you will do. >> put tinsel around your neck. >> and i am going to look at the presents and tree. what if i had that. i want to be at home. >> for some people a quarter founder is religious. and last time i worked in they wanted to work with the employees . happy employees help the environment of a workplace. yoining that managers are going to look for the most practicing catholics and christians and ask them to work a double. there is eye lot of young people who look forward to
8:38 am
presents and time and a half. a lot of people who work in mcdonalds who are not having practicing catholics and christians i don't think it is as extreme. managers looking for catholic to force them to work. >> also wayne, i have to go back to this change in the culture that we are seeing with all of the companies now and strawns wanting to open on what really are national holidays to tracey's point. >> and li i don't think it is it either necessarily a religious economy or economic question. it is a question as you pointed out. if the workers decide it is not shove down their throat. if they take a voit and 15 and 12 of them say we would not to close. >> otherwise. you shoving it or have a facist government where oh,
8:39 am
you have to work . we'll pie you. that's not right. >> john, you have the last word. and that is a changing culture on the holidays . we are leaving them. >> no, we are changing and listening to whinny people. so you got to work on christmas. i worked on christmas for every day in every day. it was one of our wiggest shows on christmas afternoon . we looked forward tompt we had christmas with our families that morning. they are not working 16 hours. eight hour shifts for the most part. arrange your christmas around it chris your inlaws one day and parents the next. >> that was your choice. when it is yours it is different. >> certainly we made a good choice to do this show on this holiday weekend. coming up. hoping to pay that holiday

is bigger than we think ... sometimelike the flu.fer from with aches, fever and chills- the flu's a really big deal. so why treat it like it's a little cold? there's something that works differently than over-the-counter remedies. prescription tamiflu attacks the flu virus at its source. so don't wait. call your doctor right away. tamiflu is prescription medicine for treating the flu in adults and children one year and older whose flu symptoms started within the last two days. before taking tamiflu tell your doctor if you're pregnant, nursing. have serious health conditions, or take other medicines. if you develop an allergic reaction, a severe rash, or signs of unusual behavior, stop taking tamiflu and call your doctor immediately. children and adolescents in particular may be at an increased risk of seizures, confusion or abnormal behavior. the most common side effects are mild to moderate nausea and vomiting.
8:42 am
the flu comes on fast, so ask your doctor about tamiflu. prescription for flu.
8:43 am
>> are you looking forward to the upcoming refund money? don't hold your breath. they're warning if dc doesn't get a debt done. tax refunds for 100 million americans will be on hold. tracey you say this is going to put and economic recovery on hold. >> shame on congress for putting the american people in this position again. 30 million people waiting to know if they did . dangling right now. how the heck do you file your tax return.
8:44 am
it is it a simple tax return . it is the last day of return. they can't. it is so unfair. >> wayne, is it bad as tracey thinks it is it. >> i think it is worse than tracey thinks it s. amt or alternative minum tax wasa pass to hook the high bracket taxpayers. that was dropped down to 25,000. right in there and so that is for people filing as together. that means an extra 30 million people will be paying taxes that never paid taxes before. they don't understand the alternative minimum tax and if it is not attached. the fall out has to reconfigure and takes them 90 days and once again the
8:45 am
government is not serving us. it is serving them selves. >> we are talking about 80 to million of those impacted by the fiscal cliff firasco and many americans may suffer because of it i think to look at what you are saying, - congress is ashamed to bringing uncertainty to americans who rely on tax returns to put back in the economy. i am sure for a lot of these folks that money is spent to pay off bills and holidays and get breathing room. it is it heart breaking. it is true for work wealthy and americans. we talk about how the market is hating uncertainties. it is not the huggies sold.
8:46 am
it is government. to tracey's point you have potentially 100 million americans and trillions worth of wealth waiting on government to make arbitary decision . we have rational people here trying to pay their taxs and live their lives and how can they plan rationally . trillions of dollars 15 days out. >> good americans willing to pay their fair share and government had their money for a year and they at any point back. we are looking at a potential delay. it is frustrating . they do deserve their money back. it is disgusting to me. i don't think it is it the worst in the history of the united states it is the worst in the senate and history of the empires. thape are both ruled by the extreme bases. but they found a way to keep everybody happy. if they find a way to do just enough they know what a blow back is going to be.
8:47 am
kick the can down the road and i think that everybody is going to be fine with all of the tax returns. >> i am curious, tracey, do you think congress will heed the cash in warning? >> in the end of the day. i think john is right. they do come up with something. but we are kickinglet can down the road and not fixing the problems. this time, next this show we'll be talking about the same thing. >> they should. watch cash in congress. and as you head out retailers are giving you an opportunity to be someone else's angel it is easy.

8:53 am
not all that bad. >> i never thought they were. and turnos out companies and individuals get a lot out of being charitable. they feel it is their best interest . this goes to make the point of it you are inabling people to have a more commercialized christmas and they are paying for their gives and toys. christmas is a wonderful celebration and the toys and is part of what makes it terrific. >> do we tend to forget that corporations do a lot of good when it comes to charity work? >> i think corporations especially recently have seen the social good is what they want to look at . susan g kolmanaso. people put their trusts in companies that do good. >> waynewill we see more is
8:54 am
